At Norman Street Primary School, our governing body plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our school. As a maintained primary school, we are committed to upholding our vision and values, which are deeply rooted in our vibrant and diverse community.
Our governing body’s primary responsibilities are to ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction, hold the headteacher accountable for the school’s performance and the use of resources, and oversee the school’s financial management. They work closely with the school’s leadership team to drive continuous improvement and ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.
To effectively manage the various aspects of school governance, our governing body is divided into two sub-committees: Curriculum and Resources. While each committee has specific areas of focus, our governors are encouraged to gain a broader understanding of the school’s operations by attending meetings and monitoring various aspects of school life.
In addition to their committee work, our governors also play a vital role in safeguarding and the Prevent agenda, ensuring that our school remains a safe and inclusive environment for all.
The Chair of our Governing Body is Rev’d. Keith Teasdale, and we currently have ten members with full voting rights. We are actively seeking to fill two co-opted governor vacancies, as we believe that diverse perspectives and a range of expertise are essential for effective governance.
