Why Us?

Why should your child come to Norman Street?

At Norman Street Primary School, we are proud to be a fantastic place for children to learn and grow. We are committed to providing exceptional educational experiences that are rooted in our school values; a strong community, enriched by diversity, and inspired by the endless possibilities.

A Positive Learning Community

Children and their families are proud to be part of our positive learning community at Norman Street Primary School. Our staff know children and their families well, enabling us to successfully remove any barriers to pupils attending and enjoying school. Our children trust the staff who work with them and feel confident that they can talk to us about any worries, knowing that we will resolve issues quickly.

Diverse Enrichment Opportunities

Our children enjoy the diverse range of extra-curricular activities that enhance their learning of the curriculum. They benefit from well-thought-out trips and visits that successfully build on the skills and knowledge they are acquiring in school. Our children also appreciate the wide range of opportunities they have to contribute to their school and local community, such as the school council’s work to improve playtime resources and their regular engagement with a local care home.

High Expectations and Achievements

Our children, including those in the early years, understand the high expectations that our staff have of their behaviour and achievement. They exemplify our values of being ready, safe, and respectful, and are commended when they model these qualities. This supports children to better understand the impact of their behaviour on others. As a result, pupils engage well in lessons and enjoy learning new knowledge and skills, typically achieving well.

Exceptional Curriculum & Pastoral Care

We have designed a well-thought-out and ambitious curriculum, carefully considering the knowledge and skills to be delivered in each year group. This is enabling our staff to focus on delivering high-quality lessons, particularly in the teaching of reading, where we have prioritised developing pupils’ skills and love of reading.

Our provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is a strength of the school. We have effective processes in place to swiftly identify any additional needs and build strong relationships with families and local agencies to ensure we provide the best possible support.

A Vibrant, Diverse, & Supportive Community

At Norman Street Primary School, we are rooted in our community and strengthened by our diversity. To be a “Normie” is a source of pride, as we aspire to give our children a strong sense of self and an understanding of the vibrant and diverse communities in which they are growing up.

We are inspired by the endless possibilities that lie ahead for our pupils, and we work tirelessly to provide them with a calm, respectful learning environment where they can explore the world around them and develop the skills they need to be thriving citizens.

We would be delighted to welcome you and your child to our school community.
